Jiuwen Zeng was born in 1999 in Sichuan Province, China. As an adolescent and teenager, Zeng experienced the 5.12 Sichuan Wenchuan Earthquake and witnessed first-hand the impact of large-scale natural disasters on society; also as a Generation Z, Zeng grew up during a period of rapid economic growth and Internet technology development in China.
She grew up in a setting where quake were common, whether they were earthquakes or changes in the world. During the coronavirus pandemic of 2021, Zeng travel to New York, USA, to encounter more forms of artistic expression. She explored the use of materials and media as well as performance forms, gaining a deeper understanding of concepts, interactivity, and spatial arrangements.
